Managing and Growing a Cultural Heritage Web Presence: a strategic guide by Mike Ellis (Facet, 2011) is a handy book which I would certainly have included in the Handbook had it been available. Mike offers loads of useful perspectives and advice for managers on the complexities of managing your service's online presence. Highly recommended for … Continue reading Manage and Grow your Web
Have your say on Copyright
The UK Intellectual Property Office has announced a consultation on the findings of the Hargreaves Report. This includes many issues which affect the services and activities of Special Collections, notably copying for preservation and the management of "orphan works". The consultation welcomes responses from individuals and organisations and closes on 21 March 2012.
Done!
I sent the final versions of the proof and index off to my copy editor at Facet earlier this week, so hoping that the book will be published sometime in December. If you're thinking of buying a copy, CILIP members are best to order through Facet as you get a substantial discount. The Handbook is … Continue reading Done!

As for … Continue reading Brought to you in Garamond

I've found six broken links so far. Fortunately all the resources … Continue reading Proof Positive

Greetings!
I created this site as an online extension of The Special Collections Handbook, which will be published by Facet Publishing in November 2011. The Handbook is a practical guide to help librarians and others new to caring for Special Collections, by which I mean all the exciting stuff in a library that needs extra care … Continue reading Greetings!
